From Silent Pain to a Powerful Purpose

Rene Parks-Dickerson is the heart and founder of Silent Cry Mental Health. A woman of unwavering faith, Rene’s life has been marked by deep personal loss—her only child, her son’s father, her brother, and her grandson. These unimaginable experiences brought her to the brink, testing her strength and will to carry on.

But through faith, grace, and resilience, Rene transformed her pain into purpose. What once silenced her now fuels her mission: to walk alongside those who suffer in silence and offer them the support, compassion, and understanding she once needed most.

Silent Cry Mental Health was born from lived experience—and built to be a refuge for others navigating grief, trauma, and mental health challenges. Rene’s journey is proof that healing is possible, and no cry goes unheard when love leads the way.

Melvindale Mental Health & Recovery Music Festival

On 17 September 2022, Silent Cry Mental Health Organization teamed up with Citywide Mentoring to host a powerful music festival in Melvindale, Michigan—focused on healing, connection, and raising awareness around mental health and homelessness.

Held at Centro Familiar Cristiano United Methodist Church, the event ran from 12 PM to 8 PM and featured live performances, guest speakers, and valuable support resources. Organized by Rene Parks-Dickerson and Sheldon Hill, the festival created a safe and uplifting space for the community to come together both in-person and virtually.

HIGHLIGHTS

 Meet Roman —

A young man shaped by deep loss. After losing his father at 7, his grandfather just months later, and then both his uncle and brother by age 10, Roman chose resilience over despair. Today, he channels his journey through Silent Cry, turning pain into purpose and offering hope to others facing silent battles.

Turning Pain Into Power:

Robert’s Story

At just 18, Robert faced the unimaginable — the loss of his father. Still reeling from grief, he lost his grandfather only three months later. These back-to-back losses shook his world.

But grief didn’t stop there. At 21, Robert lost two of his uncles, and shortly after, his brother passed away. In a few short years, he had lost the men who had helped shape his life.

Despite the heartache, Robert made a choice: to rise. He began turning his pain into purpose, using each loss as a reminder to live with deeper intention, compassion, and strength. Today, Robert is not only surviving — he's honoring the memory of those he lost by building a life filled with meaning and impact.

His journey is a reminder that even in the darkest chapters, it’s possible to write a new story — one shaped by courage, not tragedy.
